When a boiler breakdown is an emergency
- No heating or hot water during cold weather.
- Elderly people, young children, or anyone unwell in the home without heat.
- Water leaking from the boiler or the pipework around it.

- Loud banging or a burning smell from the boiler.
- A carbon monoxide alarm going off.

If you smell gas, do not use switches or flames. Turn off the gas at the meter if it is safe to do so, leave the property and call 0800 111 999. Once the supply is safe, KB Heating & Plumbing can find and repair the fault.
What to do while you wait
- Check the pressure gauge. If it is below 1 bar, it may need topping up using the filling loop.
- In freezing weather, check for a frozen condensate pipe outside. Warm (not boiling) water poured over it can clear the ice.
- Make sure the gas and electricity supplies are on and the thermostat and timer are set correctly.
- If water is leaking, turn off the water at the stop tap and switch the boiler off.
